"Phyllostachys bissetii" ist eine der winternen "Phyllostachys" -Bambusarten. Es kann durch die leicht glänzenden grünen Blätter erkannt werden und bildet dicke blaugrüne, später graugrüne Stängel. Die Blätter haben ziemlich klein und hellgrün. Dieser Bambus ist winterhart und wächst auf jedem Boden. Aufgrund der dichten Struktur der Stängel und des Blattes ist es sehr geeignet, eine dichte Hecke zu schaffen.
